Dalis Gures | From Conflict to Control
Channelling the Chaos
Canada's Dalis Gures of Montreal has stepped into the ring 57 times, building himself into a disciplined, dangerous, and focused force in the amateur boxing scene. Training out of Gym the Corner, Dalis didn’t come to boxing through family tradition or childhood dreams. His entry was raw, personal, and honest.
The Depth of Boxing
At age 16, after getting into a fight at school, Dalis was introduced to the idea of boxing not by a coach or fighter, but by his PE teacher, who saw his energy and intensity and recommended a gym as a way to redirect it. Curious but cautious, Dalis stepped into a boxing gym for the first time, unsure of what he’d find.

The nervousness quickly faded when he heard the sound of gloves snapping against bags and felt the intensity in the room. It didn’t take long for him to realize that this wasn’t just about fighting, it was about discipline, focus, and self-control. That moment marked the beginning of a journey that would completely shift the course of his life.
Building Toward Greatness
In the short term, Dalis is focused on refining his craft, sharpening his skills, and winning major amateur tournaments. He wants to make noise in the amateur scene and earn his place through action, not hype. Long term, his sights are firmly set on turning professional, winning a world title, and being remembered as one of the greats.
His favorite boxer, Terence Crawford, is a reflection of what Dalis values: calculated precision, technical sharpness, and a switch that flips when it's time to dominate. It’s not just about skill, it’s about mentality, and Crawford’s cold focus in the ring is something Dalis deeply respects.
The World of Boxing
What Dalis loves most about boxing is the discipline it forces you to develop and the mental toughness it demands. For him, it’s more than physical, it’s about staying calm in chaos, learning to push through limits, and proving that your preparation shows when it matters most. Boxing teaches control, and for Dalis, that’s everything.

But not everything in the sport sits right with him. What he struggles with most is the politics of boxing — how fighters sometimes get overlooked due to lack of connections or promotions, and how talent doesn’t always get the recognition it deserves. He believes in letting skill speak for itself, not manufactured hype.
All In on the Dream
Outside the ring, Dalis keeps it simple. He doesn’t chase hobbies, and instead his time is spent with family, enjoying good food, and exploring new places to eat. It’s a humble balance to the intensity of training and competition.
More than anything, Dalis wants to be remembered as a fighter who faced everyone, no excuses, no dodging. He doesn’t need fame or theatrics, he just wants the respect that comes from being known as a great fighter.
But his ultimate goal is to look back one day and proudly say he made it through it all — the highs, the lows, and everything in between. The true beauty of life.
