Zyler Feenan | Aspiring to Inspire

A Rising Star in the Ring

At just 16 years old, Zyler Feenan is emerging as one of the most determined young athletes in Australia’s amateur boxing circuit. With 20 fights under his belt, he’s quickly built a solid foundation and he's only just getting started.

Based in Sydney, Zyler trains out of Killa Boxing, under the guidance of Khalil “Killa” Saab, a two-time national medalist and internationally recognised Australian representative. It’s a disciplined, high-performance environment and it’s where Zyler is shaping his craft, one round at a time.

The Road to Glory

Zyler first discovered his love for boxing at the age of 10. His father would regularly tune into boxing and MMA events on the weekends, and it wasn’t long before Zyler was hooked as well. By 13, nervously yet eagerly, Zyler walked into Tszyu Boxing for the first time. It was there he met Khalil “Killa” Saab, who would become his coach and mentor. When Killa later opened his own gym, Zyler followed, continuing his journey at Killa Boxing where he trains today.

Zyler’s path is one of resilience, discipline, and passion. He trains with a relentless drive to be the best, and his ultimate goal is to bring home an Olympic medal. But that’s only the beginning. Zyler has a clear vision for his career: to eventually make his mark on the professional boxing world and claim a world championship.

His admiration for the greats in boxing, particularly Vasyl Lomachenko, drives him to refine his own craft. Inspired by Lomachenko’s exceptional footwork and strategic punch selection, Zyler is constantly working to improve his technique, hoping to emulate the same level of precision in his own fights.

A Fighter’s Mentality

Boxing, for Zyler, is more than just a sport. It’s a test of mental and physical strength. The thrill of the sport lies in the challenge: the ability to outsmart an opponent, the rush of overcoming obstacles in and out of the ring, and the satisfaction of improving with each day of training.

While Zyler thrives on the intensity of boxing, he’s also candid about the toughest aspects of the sport. The hardest part of boxing, he says, is the physical punishment — getting hit is never easy, but it’s part of the process. However, Zyler has learned to push through the discomfort, using it as fuel to keep moving forward.

Beyond the Ring

Outside the gym, Zyler is an athlete in every sense of the word. He’s passionate about soccer and basketball, which not only keep him fit but help him sharpen the agility and reflexes that make him a standout in the ring. He also enjoys playing guitar in his downtime and has developed real skill with it, adding another creative dimension to his personality.

For Zyler, boxing is about more than just personal success. He hopes to inspire other young athletes around the world to pursue their dreams, no matter the obstacles. Through hard work, dedication, and perseverance, he wants to prove that anything is possible.
